Terms of service

Last updated 1 October 2026

These terms explain how White Glove Genealogy works with you. Please read them before you use this website or order research. By using the site, you agree to them. When you place an order, they form part of our agreement with you.

Accounts and online checkout are not open yet. The parts below about orders and payments apply when you place an order.

What we do

We research family history by surname line. Our research engine uses AI to help read handwritten archive records. Every finding we give you cites its source. Where a reading is uncertain, we mark it [?] so you can see exactly where the doubt lies.

What a surname line is

A surname line starts with the earliest ancestor you know who carried that surname. From there, we follow the line back from father to father, one generation at a time.

Plans and prices

All prices are in US dollars.

  • Surname line, $600. We research the line up to 200 years back from the starting ancestor. If records go further, we can continue for $100 per extra 100 years. We only do this if the records allow it, and only up to the limit you set.
  • Full line, $1,500. We research the line as far back as the records go. If the line ends within 200 years of the starting ancestor, we refund $900.
  • Full line + Watch, $2,000. Everything in Full line, plus we check for newly available records every quarter for 3 years. If a check leads to a breakthrough, we research it at no extra cost.
  • Family, $4,000. The lines of all four of your grandparents, researched in full, plus 3 years of watching.
  • White Glove, from $10,000. The price is set after we evaluate your tree and agreed with you before work starts. You can pay in three stages: 40% to start, then 30%, then 30%. Or you can finance it through Affirm, subject to Affirm’s approval. After 3 years, watching can continue for $750 to $1,000 a year.

We will confirm the plan, the price and the starting ancestor with you when you place an order. Payments will be processed by Stripe, and financing by Affirm. Their own terms also apply to those payments.

What we can and cannot promise

Results depend on the records

Genealogy depends on which records survive. Some were lost to fire, flood or war. Some were never written down. We cannot promise any particular result, such as reaching a certain century, a certain country or a famous ancestor.

Sometimes a line stops because the records stop. We call this a brick wall. A brick wall that is carefully documented, showing what was searched and what was found, is a valid result of the research. It still counts as completed work. The only refund for a line that ends early is the Full line refund described above.

Our conclusions are evidence-based opinions

We work to the Genealogical Proof Standard, the method professional genealogists use to weigh evidence. Even so, our conclusions are opinions based on the evidence we found. Old records can be wrong, unclear or incomplete, and we can make mistakes too. That is why we show every finding with its source. You, or anyone you choose, can check our work.

If you think we have made an error, please tell us. We will look at it again.

How long it takes

You can usually expect first findings within days. Most lines are complete in 2 to 6 weeks. These times are estimates, not promises. Some archives are slow, and some lines are long.

Your information and your tree

You own your family tree data, including the files you give us and the tree we build for you. We use it to do your research and deliver your results.

We will only use material from your case in other ways, such as a case study on this website, if you give us permission. Where you permit it, we may use the material in anonymized form or as you agree.

Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.

Archive images

Many record images come from archives, libraries and record websites. Each of these has its own terms about how its images may be copied, shared or published. Those terms still apply when we pass an image to you. Please check them before you publish or reuse an image.

Using this website fairly

When you use this website, please do not:

  • break the law or help anyone else break it;
  • send spam, false information or harmful code;
  • try to get into parts of the site or our systems that are not meant for you;
  • copy large parts of the site automatically, or overload it;
  • use our research to harass or harm anyone.

We may refuse or stop work, or block access to the site, if these rules are broken.

Limits on our responsibility

We take great care with our work. But if something goes wrong, our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us for the research involved. We are not responsible for indirect losses, such as decisions you make based on our findings, to the extent the law allows.

Nothing in these terms takes away any rights you have by law that cannot be limited.

Which laws apply

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example when accounts and checkout open. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Changes will not affect an order you have already placed unless you agree.
